Posted on July 18, 2021July 18, 2021Assorted non-bee news (mostly) Roundup is starting to take effect on Bermuda grass. I can’t plant the buffalograss until I get that nasty invader out. A different bumblebee (or maybe robber fly mimic?? It flew different I thought) came to get water while I watered rainbow garden beds. Saturday morning dog. She is four years old as of Friday! Ironweed buds! Looking forward to the purple! Briar helping me garden on her birthday. Buffalograss corner of prairie is a good laying spot! I trimmed all the dying dill and cilantro out of the herb bed so I could see what’s going on with parsley, sage, and oregano better.
Posted on May 28, 2021May 28, 2021Dog ideas Briar needed out early this morning. Elderberry is so close to blooming. The very heavy rain yesterday evening knocked off the cactus’ impending fruit. Culinary sage is sprouting this time (earlier this spring I planted some and only a few came up). One of my baby cacti. A different species got covered in cottonwood fluff and dew. There is moss growing in the planter!!
Posted on May 26, 2021May 26, 2021Sunshine!!! Okay I lied this picture is from when it was still cloudy. But the rest are sunny pictures. Anyways, the Hedeoma is getting larger. You can see sun and shadows! I’m capturing strawberry runners to get more plants for elsewhere in yard. A very small William’s pride apple!! Garlic about to bloom (front) and in bloom (back, blurry, purplish). Salvia greggii is doing beautifully!! A lone zucchini bush considers flowering. Last year we had one plant but in a shadier spot and the flowers never “took” and eventually all the leaves got a nasty gray mildew or fungus or something. Hopefully it likes the sun better.
Posted on May 14, 2021May 14, 2021End of lunch break surprise The black coat runner beans are about to bloom!!
Posted on May 13, 2021May 13, 2021Showy evening primroses They look very showy in the morning here too! 😂 They also make a good background for the coreopsis. The big green mound of leaves in the back is the Maximilian sunflower. A Gaillardia flower is peeking up at the base of the photo and to the right of the sunflower plant are some blue bachelor’s buttons (also known as cornflower).
