03/26/2024 Carolina Anemone

We recently found two patches of Carolina Anemone on unbuilt private land. We got permission from the owners to dig a small amount to spread around town in our yard and others’ yards, as it’s not available commercially.

Blooming in their original colony.
On 03/26 we dug up one shovel full. They have delightful little tubers.
There were so so many little tubers in just the one shovel-full. We left plenty for next year in the wild!
03/29 the leaves in the wild are already turning brown. It has a very short bloom season it seems just like its cousin A. berlanderi, the more common ten petal anemone.
