I can’t see your milkweed bug photo but there is a smaller one called Small Milkweed Bug Lygaeus kalmii

We have lightening bugs in town too. Arent we lucky. They always somehow remind me of my childhood. Sure is a pretty milkweed the bumble bee is on.

The purple legume looks like a scurf pea (Pediomelum sp.). Maybe Abby could tell the exact species?
