Only the water freezes, and the remainder is the liquor. This is from the 2023 crabapples from our neighbors’ tree. The fruit only happens every other year. The Chef made a classic cocktail called Jack Rose out of 3 parts homemade applejack, 1.5 parts lemon juice, and 1 part grenadine (which gives the drink the neon pink color). Over the weekend, Mom and Dad kindly let us harvest wild persimmons from the tree in the field. This is how the tree looked when we visited and started harvesting. A few weeks ago she was loaded with fruit on every twig. So I believe the animals have gotten a good share! (And mom too haha). We forgot to weigh the left bucket (scavenged from the ground) but the right bucket contained 75 pounds of persimmons! there were still persimmons left clinging to twigs for the mockingbird who flew in as we left.
That cocktail glass is so sophisticated! And the drink recipe is quite intriguing. I wonder if anyone makes a liqueur from persimmons? Loading... Reply
