02/08/2025 new rain lily!!!

The sun came out this afternoon so we were tempted away from our plant spreadsheets to move some friends around.

First we wanted to move the non native live-forever to over by the property line. They grow really densely so we hope it will slow any invading Bermuda grass from the other side. But then we saw a little green leaf and they felt more succulent than grass.
We compared it to our original known rain lily and sure enough it seems like we may have a baby!!! We left them both in place.
Finally, the soil was so nice and soft when we moved the live-forever that we moved all the remaining irises from the rocks to all along the border, again because they tend to grow thick and hopefully that’ll slow the advance of the neighbors’ Bermudagrass. In their place we put two mystery Baptisia sp from Mom. We sprouted and grew them last year. You can see the live-forever just to their left (north). I also moved a few stems of rooted prairie verbena (either Glandularia bipinnifida or canadensis, the vendor just knew it was from one county east of here). Very convenient of it to root!
