We walked Briar at Ruby Grant park today and saw what baby gumweeds (Grindelia) look like. This confirms that we do have some growing at home. These park ones were not sticky, which is why we were dubious about the home ones.
Yay!! And that species (Grindelia ciliata) isn’t sticky, so sometimes it’s common name is goldenweed or Spanish gold (not sure why the Spanish part) instead of gumweed. It still has a lot of resin; it just keeps it inside its leaves.
